Background Info:
Once a year they are held, each year hosted by a different cities' support group. The "Be All" is similar to the Southern Comfort events in Atlanta held yearly. There are seminars with doctors and other experts brought in for just about every subject imaginable. There are discussions on passing, surgical procedures for various reasons, therapists discussing issues with S.O.'s, nights on the town, extravagant meals 3 times a day, shopping out at the malls, boutiques within, hotel accommodations and everything needed for a fem week to "Be all you can be!" At the end of the last day, in the evening, their was a (really) big band and they played some great music for us to party, socialize and dance to in an elegant setting!
Here I am trying on my new wig! All of these shots were taken while I was still deciding whether to buy the wig or not, asking friends what they thought of my new look. It will never replace my more straight hair but I thought it is a nice change, especially for something really special.
A further note on the weekend. During one of the nights during my stay at the hotel there was a fire alarm! I had just gotten to bed at 2:45 AM and an hour later I was awaken from my sleep by incessant buzzers and a voice over the intercom saying to vacate the building! I was sleeping in my breast forms and slip and had to quickly put on a pair a jeans and a top, grab my sandals and walk to stairs, then outside to safety. There I am walking around the hotel with my boobs, fem top and painted nails with middle America all around me. What were THEY thinking, I wonder?! Well that was fun too; Always a hoot to get a reaction from people not used to seeing such a thing (I didn't, of course have on any makeup and I left my wig inside my room as well). I think it is good to let our numbers be known to the world, like being able to grow long hair or wear ear rings in two pierced ears, we need to get ourselves out of the closets and out of our bedrooms, so the world knows our vast numbers, so we have the freedoms enjoyed now by feminists and the women's movement, not to mention the civil rights' movement -all in the past century. As a speaker at a luncheon during the Be All said,
THIS is OUR century!
