Want to know more about Lowla - read on
Let's see.... I'm a heterosexual x-dressing male of indeterminate age (some things are
sacred), happily married to my special and very wonderful wife, with children, dogs, cats
etc., make my living as a health care professional, although I've got lots of other
interests, some of which are obvious from my photos :) I've been x-dressing off and on
since I was about 12 yrs. old starting as many of us did in my mother's closet. I don't do
hormones, but thanks to strategically placed padding and lots of practice, I have become
somewhat more sophisticated and passable over the years. Lately I've been inspired by all
the beautiful t's I've met on-line , and have enjoyed a renaissance of sorts with renewed
interest and enjoyment... it's so much more fun when you can share. I live up in the wilds
of northern WI. I enjoy the outdoors including skiing, cycling etc. Indoors, I love
dancing. My wife knows of and endorses my feminine alter ego. We're still working on the
fine tuning but she has been wonderfully cool about things.
Lowla answers some Frequently Asked Questions...
I get asked a lot of questions about a variety of things. Some things seem to come up
repeatedly, and I've assembled a few common questions and answers here. Any vendors
mentioned here are strictly for informational purposes only, I don't have any financial
interest in any of them - I just like their products.
1. "Where do you get your shoes?"
- Ahhh, one of my weaknesses are sexy shoes.... and where better to find them than at
"Sexy Shoes" otherwise known as the Leslie Shoe Company Inc., 480 N. Second St.,
P.O. Box 48, Rogers City, Michigan 49779-0048. Great shoe source. Good quality, low
prices, excellent, quick service, and best of all, lots of 4" and 5" heels!
Phone 1-800-716-8617. They have a nice catalog.
2. "What sort of makeup and techniques do you use?"
- There are many fine products on the market and as many or more ways to apply them..
I think the most challenging part of makeup for a tv is good beard cover and foundation -
after that it's basically the same as for any gg. Most of the foundations on the market
don't do a very good job of beard cover - the colors are wrong to compensate for the
bluish tones of an underlying beard shadow, and the pigment concentrations are just not
dense enough. The products I use are from Carla
Fong Cosmetics, P.O. Box 1130, Mt. Angel, Oregon 97362 - 1130. The Beard Cover comes
in a 0.25 ounce container and costs $4.00 plus $2.55 shipping and handling.... well worth
the investment. She actually has a 't' kit available that has an assortment of colors and
foundation shades (I think it was around $30 for the kit). I start with a white concealer
and apply that to the areas under my eyes and in the recesses beside my nose and under my
chin... I follow that with the beard concealer applied to the beard area with a moist
makeup sponge... and follow that with foundation applied using a similar technique. Next
comes the eyes - I use a grey to black cream eyeliner applied with a fine makeup brush -
for the upper lids I use a smoky grey shadow (avoid blue whatever you do!!)... and usually
add some mauve frosty highlights up under my eyebrows.... followed by mascara on my upper
and lower lashes (and a lash curler on the uppers). I outline my lips with a slightly
darker color and fill in with a lipstick that matches my hair (more purple tones for the
brunette hair - frosty pink for the blond look)... add some blusher to highlight the
cheekbones (same color rules as for the lips).... some pressed translucent powder ( they
say you're supposed to use a powder puff and not a brush - but I like the brush that comes
with the Mary Kay
( I also use some Mary Kay cosmetics - ie. my blusher and pressed powder) compact , the
wig of choice, et voila - tv glamour at its finest :)
3. "Where do you buy your clothes and wigs"
- Everywhere and anywhere and this listing is certainly not exhaustive by any means! A
good "t" supplier is Fantasies in Lace, PO Box 19679, Plantation, FL 33318-9679,
954-581-8412 or Fax - 954-791-0985. They have quite a selection of lingerie, corsets,
foundation garments, stockings and have some "special" t bras etc. Selection,
service and discretion is very good and prices are reasonable. For fetish clothing check
out the vendors on Diva Net:
http://www2.zoom.com/divanet/ WOW! Another catalog that I'm rather fond of is from Carabella Collections, 1852 McGaw Avenue, Irvine, CA
92714 (714) 263-2320
http://www.carabella.com. They have mainly swimwear, but have a nice selection of sexy
dresses - the white dress with the mesh top that I wear in lw189.jpg came from them - good
prices too!
As far as my wig goes bring up http://www.wigs.com/plist.html
on your Browser - my favorite wig is under the mid length wigs under the name
"Desire" ($79). This company is at the top of my list - very discreet, excellent
selection, good service and good prices.
4. "Do you take hormones?"
- No I don't - my "curves" are courtesy of the corset and padding industries.
Check out Classic Curves, P.O. Box 115 Wilmington, CA 90748 Call 310-549-8787 or email: classicurv@aol.com. They sell the
"Veronica" garment - instant curves!!
5. "Who did your webpage design?"
- Me, with the assistance of Adobe Pagemill, and plenty of help from my HTML literate
friends.
6. "What sort of camera do you use, and who takes your photographs?"
- I primarily use a Kodak DC50 digital camera, with a 4 meg memory card - it can store
about 40 high res images that can be downloaded directly to your computer (no need to wait
for that pesky photofinishing). It has a zoom lens, integral flash.... and, of course, a
timer.... which answers the second part of the question - generally my photos are self
taken using the timer.
7. "Do you dress fulltime?"
- Hardly! - as much as that fantasy is appealing, I have to pick and choose my
opportunities. I generally wait for trips to nearby cities to go out in public.
8. "Do you plan on sex change surgery"
- No, why give up the best of both worlds :)
9. "When and how did you tell your wife about your x-dressing... do your children
know?"
- Over the last year, the intensity and quality of my dressing has increased (I've had
such good role models online). I finally leveled with my wife about my feminine alter ego
after hiding the fact (a mistake I realize now) for 15 of our 16 yrs. together. Although
it has taken much adjustment on both our parts, our relationship is stronger now than it
ever was. Even my confession last year was forced by my wife discovering a picture of me
dressed and accusing me of having an affair. I must say though that since she's known, she
has been wonderfully understanding, and I think is going to be able to accept Lowla into
our relationship in at least some capacity. I have tried to be honest with her since my
"coming out", a hard habit to change.... in addition I bought JoAnn Robert's (of
CDS) book "Coping with Crossdressing" - which has been a tremendous help in
facilitating our discussions. She has also developed an email friendship the wife of a
good tv friend of mine - they have compared notes and this has been very helpful in
helping them both to understand (as tv's we're used to feeling isolated, but it's a new
feeling for our wives). As far as the kids are concerned I plan on keeping them ignorant
of Lowla - they wouldn't understand and it would just serve to confuse and possibly hurt
them needlessly. Having the kids around limits the opportunities I have to dress - so what
else is new.
10. How do you imitate a feminine voice?
It takes great skill and practice and a certain amount of god given ability for a male to
convincingly imitate a female voice.... I was at a party with over 100 tv/ts's there and
amongst all those t's there was 1 girl who I thought had an absolutely convincing voice -
she was terrific, but it goes to demonstrate the frequency of what's common. Having said
that there are several things that may help. It is not so much the deeper tone of the male
voice that distinguishes men from women - women tend to talk using a much broader range of
frequencies, wheras men tend to be much more monotone. In addition there is definetly a
female body language that accompanies the female voice - that can be emulated, but can
also be overdone and seem affected. Men are "valgus" creatures - namely elbows
sticking out, hands in towards the body and wrists extended, knees apart and feet futher
apart.... women are "varus" - namely elbows in against the body, forearms
rotated outward, and wrists often flexed, knees together.... adopting a female posture
helps enormously even before you open your mouth. As far as speaking, if your like most of
us and can't manage a convincing female voice... speak in a tenor register (avoid the
squeaky falsetto type tones), speak softly, speak in a 'sing song' manner utilizing a
larger range of frequencies.... use feminine body language. It may not be perfect but can
be quite passable.
11. What sort of breastforms do you use?
A pair of size 8 silicone forms.
12. What kind of pantyhose do you wear?
I use L'eggs Sheer Energy or Smooth Silouettes primarily - either off black, off white or
suntan. I usually wear pantyhose under stockings and garters to smooth out some of the
muscle definition - a trick that works well under pantyhose too if you use a pair of flesh
toned matte tights (not the shiney ones).
