instead of a list of musicians i like (which would be very long
and boring), i've put together a page of musicians with whom i've either met,
got an autograph from, or taken pictures of. that does narrow the list down
quite a bit <g> so without further ado, here they are:
i've seen tori amos six times now in concert, the first being in champaign,
IL in september of 1994 during the "under the pink" tour. on september 24, 1996
i had the chance to meet and talk with tori before her show in normal, IL. i
even got a hug ;) i don't remember much what we talked about, besides me
mentioning i had worn my charlie brown tee-shirt. she said it was a groovy shirt
<g> i took pictures of that event as well as some nice ones of her before
the show the next week in chicago. i haven't scanned these yet so you'll just
have to be patient ;)

i discovered melissa ferrick when she performed at the midwest bisexual,
lesbian, gay and transgendered college conference (how's that fer a mouthful?)
when it was held at my college, UIC, at the end of february 1998. she put on a
really good show, and i was able to talk to her fer a few minutes afterwards. we
discussed the horrors of being named melissa <g> she signed the "melissa
ferrick +1" CD i had bought that night. i have to confess though i haven't had a
chance yet to buy her earlier CDs. yes...i'm a horrible person! but she's on my
list of CDs i have to get.

when i attended lilith fair on august 19, 1997 in milwaukee, mary jane lamond
was one of the performers on the second stage. she's probably best known for
doing the vocals on ashley macissac's song "sleepy maggie." she does songs
entirely in gaelic which i think is pretty cool :) after her set i got to talk
to her a few minutes. she was very friendly and had a really nice accent
<g> she ended up signing my lilith fair schedule which i have posted
below.

i had heard many wonderful things about tara maclean via the sarah mclachlan
mailing list (they're both on the same label) but didn't actually get to find
out for myself until she opened for dar williams in beloit, WI on november 21,
1997. and the critics were right! :) plus after the show she signed a postcard
for me and chatted with several of us for about 10 minutes which was a very
sweet thing to do :) her new cd should be out soon...she's definetely one to
watch!

sarah, sarah, sarah....what can i say about her? it's just she is the artist
that is most influental and cherished by myself yet she is the most elusive in
my quest to meet her. but you can't say i haven't tried dammit ;) not that i'm a
stalker or anything, all i would like to do is tell her how much her music has
meant to me over the years, and perhaps a picture with her and an autograph to
mark the occasion. it seems though with her rising popularity, my quest is even
more farfetched :P but it will happen...i know it will! ;) but she has not
escaped the view of my horrible picture taking <g> below are several
pictures of her at various concerts i have seen her at.

i saw the nields open up for dar williams on april 10, 1998 in madison, WI.
actually it was just katryna and nerissa nields, the rest of em were back home
<g> they are a very energetic pair and their songs are both amusing and
thoughtful. i talked to both of them a little bit after the show and they were
kind enough to sign my brand-spanking new copy of their cd, "gotta get over
greta." i hope to see the full band this fall when they play several dates in
the midwest :)

well i've only been a dar fan fer about a year now but she's already one of
my favorite musicians. not only fer the wonderful songs she performs, but as
well as for her uncanny stage presence and devotion to her fans. in the various
times i've seen her live, she's always come out afterwards to meet and greet
with her fans. she even remembered me once from a previous concert which i'm
still smiling about :) dar is one of the sweetest people i've ever met...it's
performers like herself that make listening to music such a joy :)
